Following the publication of research by the Rape Gang Inquiry, we commissioned the polling company ‘Find Out Now’ to carry out polling into three policy recommendations.
The results:
Question 1
In June the British Government announced they would launch a national inquiry into the “grooming gangs” scandal, where predominantly Pakistani men engaged in the organised sexual exploitation and rape of under-age girls, with local authorities failing to react “Would you support or oppose automatically deporting foreign nationals resident in the UK, who have been convicted of organised child sexual exploitation and rape?”
Support: 78%
Oppose: 2.6%
Don't know: 19.3%
Question 2
There are proposals that if someone convicted of organised child sexual exploitation and rape was a dual national (citizen of both the UK and another country), they should have their British citizenship revoked and then be deported.
Would you support or oppose this proposal?
Support: 71.5%
Oppose: 6.1%
Don't know: 22.3%
Question 3
There are concerns that some people within involved communities were aware of exploitation taking place but did not report it to the authorities. Would you support or oppose deporting foreign nationals who, while not involved themselves, were aware that a family member was participating in the organised child sexual exploitation and rape, but failed to report it to the authorities?
Support: 59.7%
Oppose: 9.4%
Don't know: 30.9%
Rupert Lowe, Restore Britain Leader, commented:
“Any foreign national involved in the rape gangs must be deported - whether as active participants, or accomplices. If they knew and did nothing, they must go home. I want Pakistani rapists and accomplices in prison, in Pakistan. Send them all home. Evidently, the British people agree with me.”
