Restore Britain has today published The Wealth of Our Nation, a paper diagnosing four decades of political choices behind Britain's economic decline, and setting out a costed path to reversing it.

Britain's GDP per head was once 8.9 times that of Poland. On current trends, Poland will overtake Britain within a decade. Some 246,000 British nationals left the country in the year to December 2025 alone, many of them young and skilled, even as the state has grown to swallow nearly half of the economy and taxation has reached its highest share of national income since 1948.

Restore Britain rejects the claim that public services are underfunded. The average British household now contributes £44,000 a year in tax to fund public services that most consider worse than a generation ago. Left unreformed, the paper warns, the working-age welfare bill alone will cost each household £14,500 a year in transfer payments by 2030.

The party's answer is to claw back £178 billion of the £300 billion in excess spending accumulated since 2019, roughly £35 billion a year, through a freeze on working-age benefits and QUANGO budgets, reform of the pensions triple lock, and the end of Net Zero-related public expenditure. Every pound saved is earmarked to fund £155-156 billion of tax cuts, including a higher personal allowance, a restored 19% rate of corporation tax, and the abolition of inheritance tax, stamp duty, and insurance premium tax.

The party's ambition is a state no larger than the one Tony Blair inherited in 1997, roughly 33% of GDP against 45% today, achieved over two Parliaments.
